Import custom coded email templates

Permission required to use this feature: build or import their own templates

If your emails require custom coding, you can design a template in your preferred HTML editor then import it. Make sure you've included our template tags in the HTML so you can add content using our custom template content editor.

Below, we explain how to prepare the files so you can import the template.

Prepare the email template files

If your template HTML references images such as icons and logos, or external CSS, you will need to upload two files:

  • The HTML file (either HTML or HTM).
  • Any other files that your HTML references (such as images and CSS), contained in a single folder and compressed using ZIP format.

To compress your images and CSS to a single ZIP file:

  • On macOS, select the folder containing your images and CSS. Right-click, then select Compress.
  • On Windows, right-click the folder containing your images and CSS, and select Send to > Compressed (zipped) Folder.

Import custom email templates

To import your template:

  1. Click your profile image at the top right, then select My templates.
  2. First click Create a template and then choose Upload your own HTML.
  3. Give the template a name. For example, "Monthly Newsletter".
  4. Below "HTML page", click to select the HTML file from your computer.
    • Optional: if you have a ZIP file to import, below "All other image and CSS files in ZIP format (optional)" click Choose File to select the ZIP file from your computer.
  5. Click Add template to upload the files.

The template will be scanned and imported. If there are no errors reported, the template will be added to your saved templates. When you create a new campaign, you'll be able to find it by selecting Use a template after clicking Design email.
